Little Tiger Cubs

Welcome to the exciting Sport and Martial Art of Taekwon-Do & Little Tiger Cubs.

What is Taekwon-Do?

Taekwon-Do literally means Foot (Tae) Hand (Kwon) Art (Do) - the Art of Hand and Foot fighting. Taekwon-Do is a Korean martial art and can be described as the scientific use of the body for self-defence. Taekwon-Do will improve your fitness, flexibility, coordination and self-confidence. Taekwon-Do training is safe, practical and most of all enjoyable.

What Taekwon-Do Group are you joining?

The club you are joining is part of the ‘Steven Murphy Taekwon-Do Schools’ group. This group of schools are affiliated to United Kingdom Taekwon-Do Centres. The UKTC is a member of the British Taekwon-Do Council, the official governing body for Taekwon-Do in the United Kingdom as recognised by the Sports Council. All our Instructors are fully qualified and insured to teach Taekwon-Do within the United Kingdom. To comply with child protection and the protection of vulnerable people, all our Instructors have completed an Enhanced Disclosure check.

What Clothing to Wear

To commence training, new students should wear loose comfortable sportswear such as jogging trousers and a T-shirt. Taekwon-Do is a bare foot art therefore no footwear is required.  Little Tiger Cub students should wear soft shoes and black gym shoes once registered members.

The official Training Suit will be supplied free of charge to our new members.

Little Tiger Clubs (3-5 Years Old)

Membership - New students will be required to complete a membership application form before commencing the second class. Upon successful application, the student will become a recognised ‘Little Tiger Cubs’ member. To comply with our Instructor insurance policy, all parents/supervising adults will be required to remain with all 3 and 4 year old members during each session attended.

Syllabus - Our Little Tiger Cubs programme has been specifically designed to cater for children 3-5 years old. Its aim is to introduce basic martial arts skills through a mixture of simple games, fitness drills, and Taekwon-Do training. This training programme aims to assist in the physical development, improved health and increased fitness of each child. The programme will encourage the development of motor skills, balance, endurance, flexibility, strength, and the coordination of eye, hand and foot. Through this development, each child should find greater self-confidence and self-esteem.

Reward System - Our Little Tiger Cubs syllabus has a structured reward system to teach our young members that good attendance, good effort and good behaviour will help them to achieve their goals in life. Our young members are awarded certificates, award stickers and promotion tags to be worn on their belts.
